As I reflect on myself as a learner I must admit that I have retained many of the characteristics that I held as a young student. When attempting to learn something new I like to take a hands- on approach. I seldom retain information from a lecture alone. I find it easiest if I can touch, manipulate and experience a procedure for myself. When given a set of directions I find them meaningless unless I have the opportunity to go through the motions. I don't want someone to show me what to do. I want to be the one that actually does it as you walk me through the process. I will retain the information much better if I am doing it myself. I can be a passenger in a car going to the same destination ten times, but I wont pay attention or retain the directions until I actually have to drive to said destination myself.
I like being a part of cooperative group settings because I can bounce ideas off of others and get confirmation that my own ideas are on the right track. I was the kid that always looked for affirmation from the teacher that my work was being done correctly. I hate to admit it but I still have traits of that characteristic today.
I consider myself an organized and practical person. I am most comfortable with routines. My preference is following a set of procedures that are consistently done in an ordered way.
With Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligence Theory my strengths seem to fall in the areas of spatial intelligence and logical mathematical intelligence. Someone with logical mathematical intelligence needs order, likes math and problem solving, likes to make lists and likes to win. That’s me. Someone with spatial intelligence likes art activities, likes movies, slides, and photographs, and daydreams frequently. That’s so me!

I too decided to go and see what this Diner Dash was all about. Oh my gosh, what a game. I was getting frustrated trying to serve all these customers. As the game continued you really had to use problem solving skills because a mixture of people would come in for example 1, 2 or4 people at at time. It was admazing. I downloaded the trial too. However, I didn't want to purchase it because I knew if I did I would just get addicted to it.
Anyway, how are you doing with your Wii? I'm sorry I stick with it but as I see it seems to be very enjoyable and most importantly, it includes the entire family.
