Prior to purchasing the Wii system I was playing the Super Mario flash game and loving it. The challenge of trying to move through the various levels was quite addicting. I did feel a little behind the times however. I'm sure everyone else have long since moved on from the Super Mario Brothers. Even though, I was really proud of myself for making it to level 2 (which took me hours). My daughter's boyfriend came over and within what seemed like mere minutes, he was up to a level 9. So much for thinking I was all that!!!
I then moved on to the Wii system. I totally enjoyed bowling, playing tennis, and baseball. When I took the fitness test and my fitness age was 43, I was once again thrilled with myself. You see, my actual age is much higher. I'm enjoying the Wii system because it has me off the couch, up and moving.
I wanted to also investigate Diner Dash. I decided to check it out today since we had an unexpected day off. I was able to play a free demo version for an hour. When my 60 minutes were up, I just had to have more playtime. I made it to a level 5 after several hours. I'm taking a break right now. I really had to drag myself away.
Am I going through a mid life crisis I'm loving these games. Now I have to make up my mind just which one I'll concentrate on for our class project.

Hi Deb:
I know what you mean about these games. I feel myself "Slipping Into Darkness." The games have a real hypnotic effect. For right now I plan to stay with Civ IV. You know that they refer to these games as "god" games. I better not let my pastor know what I'm doing. He might kick my wife off the Trustee Board. Anyway have a good time gaming.
I think the games both of you are playing may have an addictive effect, but they also get you thinking (and in the case of the Wii, moving). We're so used to messages in the media that all games are bad, but of course it isn't that simple. I'll be interested to see what games you decide to play and how.
Hi Deb ~ I am now stuck in Diner Dash as well, so I feel your pain! I just cannot seem to get enough points.
Have you tried "chaining" at all? It's a trick I learned after playing for while one day. Apparently, it's the best way to get tons of points (though it's not working for me on the level I'm stuck at). Chaining means that you do the same action as many times in a row as you can without interruption. For example, take as many orders as possible without going on to serving food. I've found that you get a bonus score each time you continue your same chain of whatever action you're doing.
Hope this helps you. Also, look online...I've been finding some great hints!
Hi! I was also going to tell you about chaining...but I see Christin got to you first. Basically, instead of picking up one table's order and bringing it to the counter, then going to pick up another table's order and bringing it to the counter...you pick up both orders and bring BOTH of them to the counter together. You can do the same thing with serving the orders and cleaning up. It makes your pace quicker, so you will rack up more points.
And have you figure out the color matching thing? When the seats are colored blue and red...you get extra points for sitting blue people in blue seats and red people in red seats.
I hope this helps!
